The Azazel_I GMT takes Makina’s most rugged form somewhere new. Its unmistakable sandblasted case surrounds a deeply layered dial, now reworked to track a second time zone without surrendering the unconventional architecture that defines the collection. A unidirectional timing bezel, increased water resistance, and a robust japanese automatic movement give it the substance to match its presence. The Rougher Side of Refinement.
 
The Azazel_I GMT is wrapped in 316L stainless steel, shaped into a case that feels equal parts machine and armor. Its rough sandblasted surface gives the metal a raw, almost stone-like character — while helping hide the scratches and marks that come with daily wear. It’s tough by design, but never at the expense of the details that matter.
 
The unidirectional bezel moves through 120 firm, mechanical clicks, while 200 meters of water resistance means the Azazel_I GMT is ready for considerably more than the journey between airports. A domed sapphire crystal with triple-layer anti-reflective coating keeps the dial clear through changing light and unfamiliar surroundings. Finished with a durable rubber strap built for comfort over long hours, it’s made for the kind of wear that leaves a story, not a scar.
 
Familiar Function. Unfamiliar Form.
At its center sits the GMT disc, rotating to track a second time zone. A circular aperture cut into the disc points to the corresponding hour on the 24-hour scale hidden below — transforming a familiar GMT complication into something distinctly Makina. That same aperture doubles as a day/night indicator: orange signals the sun and daylight in the second time zone, while white becomes the moon, marking the arrival of night.
The Azazel_I GMT maintains Makina’s signature two-pronged hour and minute hands, now joined by a central seconds hand. At 3 o’clock, the dial tapers inward to reveal the date display, integrating another function into the dial’s layered architecture rather than simply placing a window on its surface.
Luminous detailing across the dial and hands provides greater visibility in low light, keeping its information readable when daylight disappears.
 
The Engine Behind the GMT
Inside the Azazel_I GMT is the Miyota 9075, a Japanese automatic movement built around true GMT functionality. Its independently adjustable local hour hand lets you change time zones without disturbing the minutes, seconds, or GMT indication — a practical complication made for movement. Operating at 28,800 beats per hour, it delivers a smooth sweep, approximately 42 hours of power reserve, and modern essentials including hacking and hand-winding.
